Nocturnal enchantment in my secessionst art inspired artwork:
the marriage of black and gold.
One of my latest creations is presented as a fascinating visual journey through the elegance of the contrast between deep black and luminous gold, a combination that evokes power, mystery and beauty. The nocturnal inspiration behind this work is not only a reference to the silence of the night, but also a reminder of the magic of intense and timeless beauty, similar to the atmospheres that so fascinated the great Gustav Klimt.
In Klimt’s art, gold takes on an almost sacred value, and it is from this vision that my work evolves, in which gold plays a central role, giving depth and vitality to the subject. The use of this colour is never accidental, but rather a deliberate choice, capable of defining and shaping the form. Black, on the other hand, becomes the ground on which the gold expresses itself, appearing with a force that suggests depth and mystery, in a play of light and shadow that seems to restore an almost dreamlike dimension.
But what really distinguishes this creation is the ability to mix materials and surfaces in an innovative way. The visual quality of black is enhanced by the use of reflective surfaces: on the one hand, the opacity of the cardboard on which the work takes shape and, on the other, the reflective colour of the tempera. This choice not only enhances the contrast between the two colours, but also adds a dynamic of reflections that changes with the light, making the work “live” in every corner of the room, in a constant dialogue with its surroundings.
The forms that emerge are linked to an aesthetic language that refers to Art Nouveau and Secessionism, themes that I have always favoured. The sinuous lines, complex geometries and sense of movement that pervades the composition clearly recall the influence of artists such as Klimt, but with a unique personality that breaks with this tradition and breathes new life into the symbols, details and stylised figures that characterise the Secessionist period.
The work is not only a tribute to classical beauty and symbolism, but also a profound reflection on how art can change over time, always retaining its ability to excite and fascinate. In this play of light and shadow, of matte and reflective surfaces, black and gold become vehicles of emotion, energy and mystery, in a perfect fusion of style and content.
The result is a composition that is not only a visual interpretation but also a sensual experience, a window through which the viewer can perceive not only the art but also the intensity of the inspiration that created it.
The work testifies to a deep connection with the past, but also to a renewal, a constant search for a balance between tradition and innovation, between the visible and the invisible: precisely revived.
