My First Vernissage at Villa Davoli: A Meeting of Art and Vineyard
April 23, 2025, is a date I will carry with me for a long time: the day of my first vernissage, hosted in one of the most fascinating and unexpected places in the Reggio Emilia countryside — Villa Davoli. An event that marked not only a personal milestone but also a precious opportunity to intertwine art, landscape, and wine culture in a moving and genuine dialogue.
Villa Davoli is much more than just a location: it is a beautiful guesthouse with a rationalist heart, designed in 1934 by architect Giuseppe Terragni Bottoni, nestled in the peaceful greenery near Sabbione (RE). Here, oenologist Daniele Rota has chosen to create a wine production that breaks away from convention: the wines of Villa Davoli are elegant, refined, and surprising. They are the result of a personal and alternative vision, which is reflected in both the aesthetics and the spirit of the place.
It was within this unique setting that I had the honor of exhibiting my artworks, creating what I would call a true encounter between art and vineyard. The energy of the villa, its rational yet warm architecture, and the passion that permeates every corner made this first vernissage feel like a moment suspended in time.
Inside the Villa, in the main halls, I presented a selection of ink drawings in black and white: intimate pieces, built upon a delicate balance of emptiness and fullness, shadows and light. Alongside them, a series of photographs capturing some of the places that have most inspired me in recent years: the vast sea of the Algarve, the powerful Atlantic waves of Rio de Janeiro, and the timeless, enchanting architecture of Venice, with its reflections and dreamlike perspectives.
The exhibition continued outdoors on the panoramic terrace, where natural light and views over the vineyards created the perfect backdrop for my floral and abstract collection, marked by vibrant strokes, intense colors, and springlike atmospheres. Here, I wanted to bring a sense of lightness, but also an energy that speaks of renewal and a deep connection with nature.
A significant section of the exhibition was dedicated to the city where I currently live, Leipzig. I selected photographs that capture urban glimpses, everyday atmospheres, and moments of quiet light. A way to bring a piece of my daily life in Germany back to Italy and share what accompanies me in my creative journey.
One of the most evocative spaces of the entire event was undoubtedly the intimate wine cellar of the Villa, a cozy and enveloping space where I displayed some of my smaller-format paintings. Among curated bottles, soft lighting, and the scent of wood and wine, art became more quiet, almost confidential, engaging directly with those who paused to observe.
This first vernissage marked the beginning of something meaningful for me: a way to tell my story, to share my vision of the world through art, and to connect with an attentive, curious, and sensitive audience. The magic of Villa Davoli and the poetry that lives among its vineyards made the event not only possible, but truly special.
It was an embrace of aesthetics and landscape, of artistic intuition and wine culture. A harmonious union that gave life to an evening filled with emotion, stories, colors, and flavors. An experience I will carry in my heart, and one I hope will be just the first of many more to come.
I would especially like to thank Daniele Rota @enologone for hosting me in the beautiful @villadavoli and Simone Villani for helping me with the organization. Also a special thanks to @molly8312 @carlottaburani @saracosti87 as social media managers and to @grassi_sara for the support behind the scenes. Endless thanks to everyone who participated and supported me!
